Pseudoptera was named by Meek (1873) [Sepkoski's age data: K Nc K Maes-u Sepkoski's reference number: 159,790]. It is not extant.

It was reranked as Gervillia (Pseudoptera) by Woods (1911).

It was assigned to Gervillia by Woods (1911); to Pterioida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Bakevelliidae by Vokes (1980) and El Qot (2006).
