Taxonomy
Mastodonsaurus torvus was named by Konzhukova (1955). It is not extant. Its type specimen is PIN 415/1-4, a mandible. Its type locality is Starokoltaevo I (Locality 8), which is in a Ladinian channel sandstone in the Bukobay Formation of the Russian Federation.
