Taxonomy
Archaeophiomusium bispinosum was named by Mayou (1969). Its type specimen is Holotype BYU 1153, paratype is BYU 1154, Department of Geology, Brigham Young University,Utah and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Archaeophiomusium bispinosum type locality, which is in an Artinskian marine limestone in the Pequop Formation of Nevada.

T. V. Mayou 1969Small ophiuroids with a circular shaped disk and 56 aboral disk plates arranged around a centrodorsal plate. The ophiuroid has five thin radially oriented arms on a pair of spines attached to each side plate.
