Arca reversa was named by Sowerby (1833). It is extant.

It was recombined as Noetia (Noetia) reversa by Reinhart (1943) and Keen (1971); it was recombined as Noetia reversa by Jung (1965) and Coan and Valentich-Scott (2012).
