Tenka was named by Barrande (1881) [Sepkoski's age data: O Cara-m S u]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Lunulacardiidae by Vokes (1980); to Pterioida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Stolidotidae by Kříž (2007).
