Eccentrotheca guano was named by Bengtson et al. (1990) [Bengston in Bengston et al. 1990
= Eccentrotheca cf. kanesia Landing et al 1980 in Laurie 1986 446 f. 9A-E]. Its type specimen is SAMP30596, a valve, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is 6429RS103 - Horse Gully, which is in an Atdabanian carbonate grainstone in the Kulpara Limestone Formation of Australia.
