Taxonomy
Tenuipteria was named by Stephenson (1955) [Sepkoski's age data: K Camp-u K Maes-u Sepkoski's reference number: 790]. It is not extant. Its type is Inoceramus argenteus.

It was assigned to Bakevelliidae by Vokes (1980); to Pterioida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Inoceramidae by Jagt et al. (2019).
