Concavodonta ovalis

Taxonomy
Concavodonta ovalis was named by Sanchez (1999). Its type specimen is CEGH-UNC 16168, a shell (One internal mold of right valve), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is south side of the Quebrada La Pola, Eastern flank of Sierra de Villicum, which is in a Caradoc marine conglomerate in the La Cantera Formation of Argentina.

Ovate shell; prosogyrate, subcentral umbo; anterodorsal margin arched towards shell body, posterodorsal margin slightly arched outward shell body, both margins meeting with angle of 150 degrees; broad, ovate anterior muscle scar, elongated dorsoventrally, slightly impressed; nine to 10 anterior and posterior chevroned teeth with concavities of chevrons towards umbo (concavodont dentition); anterior and posterior teeth meeting by small, orthomorphic subumbonal teeth; number of subumbonal elements variable (up to 10); first posterior teeth concavodont or convexoconcave; anterior and posterior teeth increasing in size gradually from umbo towards distal hinge borders; last anterior teeth larger than last posterior teeth.
