Chaohusaurus geishanensis

Taxonomy
Chaohusaurus geishanensis was named by Young and Dong (1972). It is not extant. It is the type species of Chaohusaurus.

Synonyms
  • Anhuisaurus faciles was named by Chen (1985). Its type specimen is AGM P45-H85-20 and is a 3D body fossil.

    It was recombined as Chensaurus faciles by Mazin et al. (1991); it was synonymized objectively with Chaohusaurus geishanensis by Motani and You (1998).

Motani et al. 2015Snout long; small humeral flange with concave or straight anterior margin; radius slightly longer than humerus; radius without anterior flange; distal carpals 3 and 4 fused in adults; at least two distal carpals ossified in smallest individuals; phalanges and metacarpals packed; no more than four phalanges in any digit; distal tarsal 3 ossified; typical forelimb phalangeal formula 2-3(4)-4-4-2; front flipper straight, with concave or straight anterior margin.
