Weyla was named by Böhm (1920) [Sepkoski's age data: J Hett J Toar-u Sepkoski's reference number: 93,94]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Pectinidae by Aberhan (1994); to Pterioida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Neitheidae by Waller (2006) and Scholz et al. (2008).
