Paragaricocrinidae was named by Moore and Laudon (1942). Its type is Paragaricocrinus.

It was assigned to Periechocrinacea by Ubaghs et al. (1978); and to Periechocrinoidea by Webster et al. (2009) and Webster and Webster (2012).
