Taxonomy
Praeamonotis anticipata was named by Waterhouse (1987). Its type specimen is UQ F74362, a valve (Left valve), and it is a mold. Its type locality is UQ L3104, Highway N of Theodore, which is in a Wuchiapingian coastal sandstone in the Flat Top Formation of Australia. It is the type species of Praeamonotis.
