Taxonomy
Redonia was named by Rouault (1851) [Sepkoski's age data: O Aren-l O Llde-u Sepkoski's reference number: 948,1046]. Its type is Redonia deshayesiana.

It was assigned to Modiomorphidae by Cox et al. (1969) and Vokes (1980); to Modiomorphoida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Redoniidae by Sánchez (2001) and Bouchet et al. (2010).
