Taxonomy
Arca (Scapharca) charcoazulensis was named by Olsson (1942). Its type specimen is PRI 4082, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Quebrada Melissa, Burica Peninsula [Charco Azul Fm], which is in a Pliocene offshore shale in the Charco Azul Formation of Costa Rica.
It was recombined as Anadara (Rasia) charcoazulensis by Hendy et al. (2008).
