Paleochiton kindbladensis was named by Smith and Toomey (1964) [Smith in Smith & Toomey 1964.
Estimated total length: 90 mm.]. Its type specimen is OU 5211, a valve, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Mill Creek Section, 6 miles WSW of Mill Creek village, upper mound interval, which is in a Jeffersonian reef, buildup or bioherm wackestone/reef rocks in the Kindblade Formation of Oklahoma. It is the type species of Paleochiton.
