Taxonomy
Plagiostoma dianense was named by Guo (1985). Its type specimen is IVy 0195, a valve (Left valve, internal mold), and it is a mold. Its type locality is Shuitangzhai, Gejiu City, which is in an Anisian marine horizon in the Gejiu Formation of China.
