Taxonomy
Nonomys gutzleri was named by Walsh (2010). Its type specimen is SDSNH 60426, a tooth (Rm1), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Spring Canyon, which is in a Duchesnean terrestrial mudstone in the Pomerado Formation of California.
