Natica grossa was named by Deshayes (1864). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Ampullina grossa by Cossmann and Pissaro (1911); it was recombined as Globularia (Globularia) grossa by Karagiuleva (1964); it was recombined as Globularia grossa by Okan and Hosgor (2008).
