Monophyllites wengensis
Taxonomy
Ammonites wengensis was named by Klipstein (1843). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Wengen (Klipstein coll), which is in a Longobardian carbonate limestone in the Wengen Formation of Italy.
It was recombined as Lytoceras wengense by von Mojsisovics (1873); it was recombined as Monophyllites wengensis by von Mojsisovics (1882), Ogilvie Gordon (1927), Spath (1934), Bando (1964), Fantini Sestini (1994), Shevyrev (1995) and Fantini Sestini (1996).
It was recombined as Lytoceras wengense by von Mojsisovics (1873); it was recombined as Monophyllites wengensis by von Mojsisovics (1882), Ogilvie Gordon (1927), Spath (1934), Bando (1964), Fantini Sestini (1994), Shevyrev (1995) and Fantini Sestini (1996).
