Taxonomy
Meekoceras caucasium was named by Shevyrev (1995). Its type specimen is PIN 2689/69 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Yatyrgvarta Mountain, Owenites-Dieneroceras beds, which is in a Smithian marine carbonate in the Yatyrgvarta Formation of the Russian Federation.
