Taxonomy
Palaeonictis wingi was named by Chester et al. (2010). Its type specimen is UF 244450, a mandible (associated right and left dentaries), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is WY0001, which is in a Sandcouleean terrestrial horizon in the Willwood Formation of Wyoming.
