Taxonomy
Trichasteropsis senfti was named by Eck (1879). It is not extant. Its type specimen is Holotype MB.E. 776, Museum für Naturkunde Berlin.

D. B. Blake and H. Hagdorn 2003Trichasteropsid with arms elongate and only gradually tapering. Arm tip rounded in larger (R greater than -50 mm) specimens but probably proportionately more pointed in smaller (to at least R -35 ram) individuals. Tips heavily armored, distal marginals weakly enlarged. Marginals abutted throughout the length of the arm, although ossicles tapered dorsally with partial intercalation of abactinals and accessories. Longest actinal row perhaps adjacent to the adambulacral series, other series somewhat irregular. Actinal spines flattened. Ambulacral column not compressed (adambulacrals and ambulacrals
considered plesiomorphic for crown group.
