Taxonomy
Clymenia antiquissima was named by Eichwald (1842). It is the type species of Discoceras.

It was recombined as Discoceras antiquissimum by Barrande (1867); it was recombined as Discoceras antiquissima by Sweet (1958), Kröger and Aubrechtova (2017) and Kröger and Aubrechtová (2019).
