Justium was named by Blome (1983) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Nori-l Tr Nori-u Sepkoski's reference number: 707]. Its type is Justium novum.

It was assigned to Capnodocinae by De Wever et al. (2001); and to Spumellaria by Sepkoski (2002).
