Australochelys africanus
Taxonomy
Australochelys africanus was named by Gaffney and Kitching (1994). Its type specimen is BP/1/4933, a partial skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is farm Bormansdrift (133) ("middle" Elliot), which is in a Hettangian/Sinemurian terrestrial sandstone in the Elliot Formation of South Africa.
