Gymnotoceras blakei

Taxonomy
Ammonites blakei was named by Gabb (1864). Its type specimen is USNM 12512 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Star Canon, Humboldt, which is in an Illyrian carbonate limestone in Nevada.

It was recombined as Ceratites (Gymnotoceras) blakei by Smith (1904), Hyatt and Smith (1905) and Smith (1914); it was recombined as Gymnotoceras blakei by Meek (1877), Spath (1934), Silberling and Nichols (1982), Konstantinov (1991) and Monnet and Bucher (2005).
