Paulchoffatoidea was named by Hahn (1969) [Includes family ?Paulchoffatiidae, these authors raise a former family to a suborder].

It was reranked as the superfamily Paulchoffatioidea by Hahn and Hahn (2003).

It was assigned to Multituberculata by Kielan-Jaworowska and Ensom (1992); and to Plagiaulacida by Hahn and Hahn (2003).
