Patellilabia aplanata was named by Gromczakiewicz-Lomnicka (1972) [Type stratum and location: Upper Visean, Orlej near Zalas, W of Cracow]. Its type specimen is MZ VIII Mg 835, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.
