Taxonomy
Cheirurus perforator was named by Billings (1865). Its type specimen is GSC 684, a cephalon/head (cranidium), and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Nieszkowskia perforator by Raymond (1925); it was recombined as Xystocrania perforator by Whittington (1965) and Ross (1970).

Synonyms
  • Kawina unicornica was named by Hintze (1953) [Paratypes: 26506, 26508-11 (AMNH). Questionably assigned to genus by author.]. Its type specimen is 26507 (AMNH), an exoskeleton (cranidium), and it is a 3D body fossil.

    It was recombined as Xystocrania unicornica by Whittington (1965); it was synonymized subjectively with Xystocrania perforator by Tremblay and Westrop (1991).
