Taxonomy
Promytilus laevis was named by Li and Ding (1982). Its type specimen is Nanjing Inst Geol Min Res HI-2548, a valve (Left valve, internal mold), and it is a mold. Its type locality is Jianshan, Gao'an County, which is in a Wuchiapingian marine siliciclastic in the Loping Formation of China.
