Taxonomy
Neoschizodus elongatus was named by Boyd and Newell (1997). Its type specimen is AMNH 44075, a valve (Right valve), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is AMNH B7979, Cottonwood Pass, which is in a Spathian shallow subtidal limestone in the Moenkopi Formation of Nevada.
