E. L. Yochelson 1964 | Bucaniella (sic) lamellosa Koken, 1897, is illustrated as possessing a U-shaped sinus (Koken, 1925, pl. 18, fig. 7). Assignment of this species to Modestospira is tentative; one of the other illustrations of the type lot on the same plate suggests that this species may have a depressed selenizone. If the specimen has only the inner shell layer preserved, this apparent conflict might be explained, because partly exfoliated specimens of M. poulseni also show a depressed pseudoselenizone. While this name may prove to be an earlier synonym of M. poulseni, the illustrations of M. lamellosa suggest that it had narrower umbilici and a relatively wider dorsum than M. poulseni. |
