Criocardium was named by Conrad (1870) [Sepkoski's age data: K Ceno K Maes-u Sepkoski's reference number: 790]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Cardiinae by Vokes (1980); and to Veneroida by Sepkoski (2002).
