Cretogermen turonicum was named by Alexeev (2008). Its type specimen is PIN 2383/324, an elytra, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Kzyl-Zhar Locality (PIN collection 2383), which is in a Turonian pond mudstone in Kazakhstan. It is the type species of Cretogermen.
