Productus (Branxtonia) typica was named by Booker (1929). It is a mold.

It was recombined as Strophalosia typica by Maxwell (1954); it was synonymized subjectively with Wyndhamia dalwoodensis by Muir-Wood and Cooper (1960); it was recombined as Wyndhamia typica by Briggs (1998), Lee et al. (2023).
