Pseudochorista occidentalis was named by Bashkuev (2008). Its type specimen is PIN 3286/74, a forewing, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Chepanikha, Rossokha River Valley (PIN collection 3286), which is in a Wordian terrestrial horizon in the Russian Federation.
