Eomiltha was named by Cossmann (1912) [Sepkoski's age data: T Pale R]. It is extant. Its type is Lucina contorta.

It was reranked as Miltha (Eomiltha) by Stewart (1930) and Vokes (1983); it was reranked as Gibbolucina (Eomiltha) by Glibert (1985) and Moore (1988).

It was assigned to Milthinae by Vokes (1980); to Miltha by Stewart (1930) and Vokes (1983); to Gibbolucina by Glibert (1985) and Moore (1988); and to Veneroida by Sepkoski (2002).
