Taxonomy
Eomiodon was named by Cox (1935) [Sepkoski's age data: J Hett K Ceno Sepkoski's reference number: 93,914,1066]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Neomiodontidae by Ronchetti (1970) and Vokes (1980); to Veneroida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Eomiodontinae by Bouchet et al. (2010).
