Taxonomy
Epilucina was named by Dall (1901) [Sepkoski's age data: J u R]. It is extant. Its type is Epilucina californica.

It was reranked as Codakia (Epilucina) by Glibert and van de Poel (1967) and Moore (1988); it was reranked as Lucina (Epilucina) by Cox et al. (1969).

It was assigned to Lucina by Cox et al. (1969); to Codakia by Glibert and van de Poel (1967) and Moore (1988); to Lucininae by Vokes (1980) and Coan et al. (2000); to Veneroida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Codakiinae by Hickman (2015).
