Eriphyla was named by Gabb (1864) [Sepkoski's age data: J Bajo K Maes Sepkoski's reference number: 159]. It is not extant.

It was reranked as Crassatella (Eriphyla) by Pilsbry (1897).

It was assigned to Crassatella by Pilsbry (1897); to Eriphylinae by Vokes (1980); to Astartidae by Tashiro and Kozai (1982); and to Veneroida by Sepkoski (2002).
