Flaventia was named by Jukes-Browne (1908) [Sepkoski's age data: K Vala K Maes Sepkoski's reference number: 789]. It is not extant.

It was reranked as Meretrix (Flaventia) by Douvillé (1916).

It was assigned to Meretrix by Douvillé (1916); to Tapetinae by Vokes (1980); and to Veneroida by Sepkoski (2002).
