Taxonomy
Ampyx semicostatus was named by Billings (1865) [Lectotype selected by Whittington 1965]. Its type specimen is GSC 690 (lectotype), a pygidium, and it is a mold.
It was recombined as Raphiophorus semicostatus by Raymond (1925); it was recombined as Ampyxoides semicostatus by Whittington (1965); it was recombined as Lonchodomas semicostatus by Sennikov et al. (2019).
