Taxonomy
Ija problematica was named by Kovalev (1981). Its type specimen is PIN 1588/68, a wing (two fifths of basal part of left wing), and it is an impression. Its type locality is Iya Locality (PIN collection 1588), which is in a Toarcian terrestrial horizon in the Prisayan Formation of the Russian Federation. It is the type species of Ija.
