Taxonomy
Arctotypus gallicus was named by Nel et al. (2009). Its type specimen is LdLAP 358, a hindwing, and it is an impression. Its type locality is F34, Les Vignasses, Lodève basin, which is in an Artinskian pond claystone/siltstone in the Salagou Formation of France.
