Coelocaulus peculiaris was named by Wilson (1938) [?Coelocaulus peculiaris]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Akpatok Island, 800' above sea level, Ungava Bay, Hudston Strait, which is in a Richmondian carbonate limestone in the Akpatok Formation of Canada.
It was recombined as Daidia peculiaris by Wagner (2023).
