Taxonomy
Atomodesma trabeculum was named by Waterhouse (1963). Its type specimen is NZGS TM3708 and is a mold. Its type locality is GS7637, Mount Duppa, which is in a Wuchiapingian carbonate sandstone in the Tramway Formation of New Zealand.
It was recombined as Trabeculatia trabeculum by Waterhouse (1979) and Campbell (1984).
