Dimeropygiella ovata was named by Hintze (1953) [Paratypes: 26348-50 (AMNH).]. Its type specimen is 26347 (AMNH), a cephalon/head (cranidium), and it is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Ischyrotoma ovata by Young (1973).
