Dimeropygiella blanda was named by Hintze (1953) [Paratypes: 26351-2 (AMNH).]. Its type specimen is 26353 (AMNH), an exoskeleton (cranidium), and it is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Ischyrotoma blanda by Young (1973).
