Taxonomy
Etheripecten escalatus was named by Waterhouse (1982). Its type specimen is NZGS TM3546 and is a mold. Its type locality is GS6071, Letham Burn (D44/f9622), which is in a Capitanian marine horizon in the Mangarewa Formation of New Zealand.
