Taxonomy
Carolinites indentus was named by Ross and Barnes (1967) [Paratypes: USNM 145731.]. Its type specimen is USNM 145730, a cephalon/head (cranidium), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is D 727 CO, which is in a Rangerian shallow subtidal limestone in the Antelope Valley Formation of Nevada.
